The Full Story

When I was a child I noticed that my grandfather Tim Brown collected

flying pigs. I asked him why he collected them and he replied: "Don't believe what they tell you. Anything is possible and pigs CAN fly. It just hasn't been invented yet." It's an important lesson that has helped me survive despite many challenges.

After I survived a house fire I made a promise to the universe to listen, and do my best to be a positive force in this world. After posting a photo of one of my paintings that burned in the fire, the same one that is now years later on the cover of the book - I had 4 different people reach out to me that inspired this book. They suggested children would love my artwork, had I ever considered illustrating children's books before, have I ever considered writing a children's book before. So I listened and a year later I published this book on Amazon.

Funk fam friends helped me fundraise after the house fire, which not only helped me heal physically but gave me hope knowing I wasn't alone. People believing in me helped me believe in myself all the more.

The only way this book was made possible was by a miraculous gift from the universe 6 months later. I was asked to move out of my rental a few days before Christmas, and be gone by NYE. I went to a sweat lodge and prayed for a quiet affordable place I could focus on my health and my artwork. The next day I was offered an opportunity to go to Haida Gwaii and live on a remote island, all expenses paid including travel, in exchange for a few hours a few times a week doing art with some very sweet kids. I even had my own private gym. It was absolutely perfect and helped me heal and grow in so many ways after the house fire the previous winter. 

If we believe in ourselves, support each other, and persevere with an open mind, I truly believe anything is possible. People will always doubt us, but that doesn't mean we should doubt ourselves or give up on our dreams or goals. All we can do is try our best.

This book is dedicated to my loved ones who gave me wings, helped me to achieve the impossible and to flourish in the face of adversity, despite the difficulties linked to my health, my battle with fibromyalgia/ chronic pain and surviving a house fire. This is for you, my friends, my family and my healers, I wouldn't be here without you.

You are all gems who saved my life and inspired the world. There are more of you than I could ever list, but I thank you all for being on Team Violet.
